Sancheong County Wins Gyeongnam Export Growth Award for Second Consecutive Year

Sancheong County in Gyeongnam announced on June 30 that it received the Export Growth Award at the 29th Gyeongnam Export Tower Awards Ceremony held at the Changwon Convention Center, following last year's achievement.

Last year, despite the global economic downturn, Sancheong County held three promotional events to pioneer overseas markets and boost agricultural exports.

In addition, Sancheong County Export Association participates every year in the LA Korean Festival Agro-Fisheries Expo, and in January this year, the county held two promotional events targeting the U.S. market.

Furthermore, the county implemented various export support projects, including the K-Agricultural Products Strategic Item Integrated Support Project, the Glocal Fresh Produce Production Complex Development Support Project, the Overseas Expansion Support Project for Processed Food Export Specialists, and the Overseas New Market Development Marketing Support Project.

These efforts led to a record-high export value of 16.1 billion won, achieved through exports of fresh agricultural products, processed foods, livestock products, and forest products.

Sancheong County is preparing promotional events for the second half of the year in the United States, Australia, and Canada.

County Governor Lee Seunghwa said, "We will continue to do our utmost to expand exports of local agricultural specialties by operating U.S. antenna shops, expanding support projects for export farms, and strengthening marketing to develop new overseas markets."

Meanwhile, Geumsil Agricultural Corporation, which exports Sancheong's signature strawberries as a designated fresh produce export farming complex, and the Sancheong County Sericulture Agricultural Cooperative, received the Export Tower Award.
