Park Chan-dae, a preliminary candidate for the Democratic Party leadership, visited the National May 18th Democratic Cemetery in Buk-gu, Gwangju, on the morning of June 28. Together with members of the Democratic Party and party officials, he laid flowers and burned incense in front of the memorial tower, and observed a moment of silence in remembrance of the spirits of May. On the same day, Park also paid his respects at the grave of Moon Jae-hak, a teenage student who died in May 1980 while resisting the martial law troops at the Jeonnam Provincial Office. Moon is known as the real-life inspiration for the character Dongho in the novel "The Boy Is Coming" by author Han Kang. Reporter Song Bohyun
