Soongsil University announced on June 24 that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with KEPCO KDN to foster energy ICT talent that will lead the realization of national carbon neutrality.

This agreement was pursued to establish an industry-academia cooperation model for practical talent development and educational and technological collaboration, in line with the government's carbon neutrality policy and the digital transformation trend in the energy industry.
Through the agreement, the two institutions will cooperate in educational and training programs tailored to industry demand, jointly develop and support employment and entrepreneurship programs, organize joint events, and facilitate personnel exchanges between practitioners. By doing so, they plan to strengthen R&D collaboration based on technological convergence between industry and academia, and to cultivate professionals who can contribute to the establishment and dissemination of policy-based technology strategies. In addition, they expect to achieve various technological and policy convergence outcomes, including ESG implementation and the creation of value for the local community.
The signing ceremony was attended by Yoon Jae Lee, President of Soongsil University, Sanghyung Park, President of KEPCO KDN, and key officials from both organizations. The event began with a promotional video, followed by welcoming remarks from the representatives of both institutions, a report on the progress of cooperation, the signing of the agreement, and discussions on future directions for collaboration. After the ceremony, participants visited the Korean Christian Museum at Soongsil University, where they engaged in cultural exchange and reflected on the history and spirit of Korean Christianity.
Yoon Jae Lee, President of Soongsil University, stated, "As the first modern university in Korea, Soongsil University has devoted itself to nurturing convergent talent to lead the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. This agreement brings together Soongsil University's specialized capabilities in IT, AI, software, and energy with KEPCO KDN's digital energy technology, creating a valuable opportunity to jointly foster practical professionals required by future society."
Sanghyung Park, President of KEPCO KDN, said, "Through the cooperation between our two institutions, we hope to achieve progress in digital-based energy transition policies and technologies, and to provide the younger generation with practical, career-focused education and opportunities. We will continue our collaboration to create a mutually beneficial model where industry and academia grow together."
