Hyundai Engineering & Construction Conducts Disaster Preparedness Safety Initiatives in Ulsan

Hyundai Engineering & Construction announced on June 19 that, together with the Construction Industry Social Contribution Foundation and Plan Korea, it has delivered safety helmets for children to Mugeo Elementary School in Ulju-gun, Ulsan Metropolitan City.

The company has been conducting safety-related social contribution activities for six years, focusing on areas affected by disasters. This year, it expanded its target region to Ulsan. In this area, large-scale projects such as S-Oil's Shaheen Project, a major petrochemical complex, and the Shin Hanul Nuclear Power Plant Units 3 and 4 are underway. The company believes that disaster safety activities are necessary to raise the level of community safety, especially in regions near these project sites.

From this month until November, Hyundai Engineering & Construction plans to deliver a total of 3,250 disaster prevention safety helmets, developed by the company, to seven schools in Ulsan and Uljin. The company will provide safety education for all students and conduct participatory disaster evacuation drills. The programs have been designed to focus on hands-on experiences, such as mock evacuation drills, so that children can actively participate.

Since 2019, starting in Gyeongju, the company has carried out disaster safety activities in earthquake-prone areas such as Busan and Pohang. As of the end of last year, it had delivered 13,925 disaster safety helmets and 5,900 disaster safety bags to 37 elementary schools. Hyundai Engineering & Construction stated, "We have been engaged in disaster prevention activities by distributing safety equipment and conducting mock disaster drills, especially in earthquake-affected areas, so that immediate response is possible in emergency situations."
