As Lee Nakyon, Senior Advisor of the New Future Democratic Party, declared his support for Kim Moonsu, the presidential candidate of the People Power Party, Yoon Geonyoung, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, criticized the decision as "the worst possible choice that disgraces former President Moon Jaein."
On May 28, during an appearance on MBC Radio's "Kim Jongbae's Focus," Yoon stated, "Both the policy forum 'Sa-uijae,' which is comprised of former officials from the Moon Jaein administration, and the Kim Daejung Foundation have expelled Lee." He added, "I don't think they expelled him simply because he crossed over to the opposing party. Regardless of any justification or logic, one must never collude with forces of insurrection. It seems he took this matter far too lightly."
Yoon also commented on the police's decision to impose a travel ban on former Prime Minister Han Ducksoo and former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Choi Sangmok, saying, "The police believe they have obtained evidence that Han Ducksoo, Choi Sangmok, Lee Sangmin, and others supported illegal insurrection," and added, "They are also confident about the possibility of prosecuting these individuals."
Regarding the police's seizure of 19 phones, including former President Yoon Sukyeol's personal phone, classified phones, and work phones, Yoon said, "I hope people are not misled by the number 19." He continued, "These include a mix of classified and work phones, but in reality, the work phones are essentially personal phones and have no significance. What matters is whether the classified phones of key individuals have been secured, but it appears they have not yet." He emphasized, "The most crucial are the classified phones of former Defense Minister Kim Yonghyun, which the police have not secured. The two classified phones belonging to former President Yoon and former Minister Kim are the most important."
Previously, the police special investigation team, while analyzing classified phone server records voluntarily submitted by the Presidential Security Service, discovered evidence that user information related to former President Yoon, former National Intelligence Service First Deputy Director Hong Jangwon, and former Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency Chief Kim Bongsik had been remotely deleted.
In response, Yoon criticized the Presidential Security Service, saying, "Yesterday, they publicly conducted security drills, which they had never done before, claiming it was to demonstrate their ability to self-regulate. I hope they do not do such things." He continued, "What matters is not this, but that they must actively cooperate with the insurrection investigation." He added, "They must disclose all information without selectively choosing what to reveal," and emphasized, "What comes first is to face the judgment of the people and confess before the public."
Meanwhile, Yoon also commented on the previous day's third presidential TV debate, where Lee Junseok, the presidential candidate of the Reform New Party, used explicit language regarding women's bodies. Yoon said, "It was nothing more or less than an unprecedented display of crude remarks." He added, "It was not a debate. I am ashamed for the public to witness this."
