The Daejeon city government announced that it has designated the period until October 15 as the summer natural disaster response period and will implement a comprehensive plan that prioritizes the protection of citizens' lives and property.

The city has set a goal of achieving zero casualties, expanding the number of areas at risk of damage to 279, an increase of 31 locations compared to last year, and designating 86 individuals as priority evacuation targets. In addition, evacuation plans have been established for 50 locations to further strengthen proactive response capabilities.

Furthermore, dredging has been completed for 552,000 cubic meters in national rivers such as Gapcheon, Yudeungcheon, and Daejeoncheon, as well as 4,620 cubic meters in local rivers such as Daedongcheon, thereby securing water flow cross-sections.

Preemptive inspections and maintenance have also been completed for a total of approximately 2,700 vulnerable facilities, including 48 underpasses, 19 major bridges, and drainage facilities such as rainwater inlets.

The city operates the Disaster and Safety Situation Room 24 hours a day, monitors real-time situations by linking the disaster safety communication network (PS-LTE) and the CCTV control center, and activates the Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters according to weather advisory levels. It also collaborates with 13 response teams and related organizations, including the private sector, police, and fire departments.

In addition, the city is continuously checking its on-site response capabilities through disaster response drills and comprehensive review meetings, assuming extreme rainfall of over 100mm per hour.

Lee Jangwoo, Mayor of Daejeon, stated, "We have established a thorough response system to protect citizens' lives and safety from typhoons and heavy rain," and added, "I ask all citizens to familiarize themselves with disaster response guidelines and pay attention to weather information."
