On May 9, hy announced the launch of its new hangover relief product, 'Coopers Kkaegom', which utilizes ingredients developed in-house.
Coopers Kkaegom takes its name from the Gyeongsang-do dialect word 'kkaegomhada', meaning 'refreshing'. It is also an abbreviation of 'kkaego-oda', which refers to quick hangover recovery.
Coopers Kkaegom contains 'Ice Plant Complex Concentrate', an ingredient developed by hy. The ice plant is a succulent native to South Africa, characterized by transparent crystals that form on its stems and leaves, resembling ice. The Ice Plant Complex Concentrate is a natural blend of ice plant, sophora flower extract, and mugwort extract.
hy has demonstrated the hangover relief functionality of this ingredient through human trials conducted in accordance with guidelines from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety. In tests involving adult men and women, those who consumed the ice plant concentrate after drinking alcohol experienced hangover relief within 30 minutes. Their blood alcohol concentration decreased by 15.1% compared to those who did not consume the product, and blood acetaldehyde levels were also reduced by 21.4%.
The product also contains various supplementary ingredients, including glutathione, taurine, and oriental raisin tree fruit extract. It is available in two forms: liquid and jelly stick. The jelly stick comes in two flavors: tropical and peach. The product can be purchased on Naver Store.
Jung Sinyeong, head of hy's Multi-Marketing Team, stated, "'Coopers Kkaegom' is a hangover relief product that embodies hy's expertise in developing natural ingredients," adding, "We will continue to expand our product lineup to broaden consumer choices and promote a healthier drinking culture."
