HL Group announced on April 30 that Chairman Chung Mongwon has been named an honorary citizen of Walbrzych, Poland. He is the first businessperson to receive this honor, which recognizes his 14 years of contribution to the development of the local community.
The award ceremony was held at Walbrzych City Hall in Poland on April 29 (local time), with Chairman Chung and Roman Szelemej, the mayor of Walbrzych, among the attendees. Chairman Chung is the fifteenth person to be included in the honorary citizen list. In 2011, he laid the foundation for HL Mando's expansion into Europe by establishing an automotive parts plant in Walbrzych.
HL Mando Poland is the only Korean company in Walbrzych, producing automotive parts such as brakes, steering systems, and suspensions. The company employs approximately 1,000 people, which accounts for about 1% of Walbrzych's population.
Chairman Chung Mongwon stated, "It is an honor to receive the title of honorary citizen," and added, "HL Mando Poland will continue to grow together with Walbrzych."
