Gurye County Reflects on the Meaning of Family at 'Communication Up Healing Camp'

A Place for Family Harmony and Communication

Gurye County announced on April 29 that it successfully concluded the "Family Communication Up Healing Camp," which was jointly organized by the Gurye County Mental Health Welfare Center and the Gurye Office of Education Wee Center from April 25 to 26.

This camp was designed to help families restore emotional empathy and communication amid their busy daily lives. A total of 14 families participated, and the event concluded in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

During the camp, participating families engaged in activities such as understanding and communicating with each other through the lens of animal families, recreational activities with the whole family, a family unity night featuring animal mask packs, and an exciting forest play program, all of which provided opportunities for family communication.

In addition, mental health and psychological assessments were conducted to identify high-risk groups for mental health issues. Based on the results, families in need will be provided with information on psychological counseling and mental health services.

One participating family shared, "We rarely have time to look our child in the eye and have heartfelt conversations, but this camp became a major turning point for our family communication. I hope there will be more opportunities like this in the future."

Kim Soonho, the county governor, stated, "This camp was not just a simple experience, but a meaningful event designed to help families grow and recover together. We will continue to do our best to ensure the emotional stability of children and families, to identify high-risk mental health groups early, and to connect them with mental health services."

Meanwhile, the Gurye County Mental Health Welfare Center operates various programs to help individuals with severe mental illnesses (such as major depression, schizophrenia, and bipolar disorder) return to daily life, and is also actively carrying out suicide prevention projects.
