Osan City in Gyeonggi Province will begin accepting applications for the 'Gyeonggi Youth Capacity Building Opportunity Support Program,' which provides financial support for language and certification exam fees to help unemployed young people strengthen their employment capabilities, starting from May 2.
This program reimburses actual expenses for language and certification exam fees up to a maximum of 300,000 won per year. Eligible applicants are unemployed young people aged 19 to 39 who are registered residents of Osan City as of the application date. Support is available for exams taken on or after December 1, 2024, and applicants must be unemployed at the time of the exam.
The eligible exams include a total of 1,004 types: 19 language exams, 540 national technical qualifications, 347 national professional qualifications, and 97 nationally accredited private qualifications. The cost of obtaining a Class 1 special vehicle driver's license is also included in the support program.
Reflecting the fact that last year's program ended early due to budget exhaustion, Osan City will divide the budget into the first and second halves of the year for this year. If the first half budget is exhausted, a second round of applications will be accepted from August 1 to November 30 in the second half.
However, individuals who have participated in similar programs run by the central government or other organizations (such as local governments, schools, or academies) are excluded from eligibility. Participants in the Gyeonggi Women's Employment Support Fund or the National Employment Support Program are also ineligible to apply. For youth national technical qualification exam fees, up to 50% of the applicant's out-of-pocket expenses can be reimbursed.
Applicants should apply through the integrated application system 'Jobaba Apply.'
Lee Gwonjae, Mayor of Osan City, stated, "We will continue to pursue policies that support young people as they strive toward their dreams and goals."
