The 2050 Carbon Neutral Green Growth Committee is an organization that deliberates and decides on major policies and plans for achieving carbon neutrality. This year, the city formed its first committee with 15 members, including Vice Mayor Park Seongnam as chairperson, city council members, experts, civic groups, and public officials.

At the meeting, appointment letters were presented to the committee members, and the agenda for establishing Uijeongbu City's first basic plan for carbon-neutral green growth was reviewed and approved.

Through this basic plan, Uijeongbu City has set the vision of becoming a "carbon-neutral city that changes lives," and aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 40% compared to approximately 2 million tons in 2018 by 2030, and by 45% by 2034. To achieve this, the city plans to implement 41 greenhouse gas reduction projects across four sectors.

Mayor Donggeun Kim stated, "Through this committee, we have established the basic foundation for achieving carbon neutrality," and added, "Going forward, we will work to build a carbon-neutral city in partnership with citizens by establishing a foundation for greenhouse gas reduction and strengthening public-private cooperation."
