Professor Choi Yuri of Hwasun Jeonnam National University Hospital Receives Commendation from Jeonnam Governor

Hwasun Jeonnam National University Hospital announced on April 29 that Professor Choi Yuri of the Department of Family Medicine recently received a commendation from the Governor of Jeonnam Province in recognition of the 53rd Health Day.

Professor Choi Yuri was recognized for her contributions as Director of the Gwangju Jeonnam Regional Cancer Survivorship Integrated Support Center, where she has worked to improve the health and support the social reintegration of cancer survivors and their families.

The Gwangju Jeonnam Regional Cancer Survivorship Integrated Support Center, established in 2017, provides a variety of services through a team of professionals including doctors, nurses, and social workers.

In particular, the center has received positive responses for its ongoing campaigns to raise awareness about cancer survivors and the importance of cancer prevention, as well as for its exercise programs aimed at improving the physical fitness of cancer survivors.

Director Choi Yuri stated, "Recently, the concept of a cancer survivor has expanded significantly to include not only patients diagnosed with cancer and those who have completed primary treatment, but also their families and caregivers. Cancer is increasingly being viewed not as an incurable disease, but as a condition that can be survived or cured. I will continue to work even harder to improve the quality of life for cancer survivors."
