This Pettiquette Class event is part of the second-year project being promoted after Pocheon City was selected for the '2024 Pet-Friendly Tourism City' public contest organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization.

This year, the goal is to spread a healthy companion animal culture and to create a tourism environment where people can travel with their pets, through on-site education in which both citizens and tourists can participate.

The event will be held a total of seven times, every Saturday during the '2025 Hantangang Spring Garden Festa.' It is designed as a hands-on companion animal culture program for citizens and tourists visiting Hantangang with their dogs.

The 'Pettiquette Class' is a program in which a professional dog trainer provides one-on-one customized training, guiding participants through walking manners and agility (obstacle) experiences.

The walking manners training includes how to use a leash during walks, handling pet waste, and socialization training. The agility (obstacle) experience consists of activities such as jumping hurdles, passing through tunnels, and weaving through obstacles (weave poles).

In particular, the individually tailored training according to each dog's personality and characteristics is expected to greatly help pet owners better understand and communicate with their pets.

Additionally, students from the Food and Companion Animal Resources Department at Pocheon High School will participate as assistant trainers, adding significance as a collaborative program involving local youth.

There will also be side events, including a pet waste bag event where waste bags are given to the first 100 participants each day on a first-come, first-served basis, as well as free access to the dog playground.

In the pet waste bag event, participants who dispose of their pet's waste in the provided bags and throw them into the designated trash bins will receive a souvenir. The dog playground is divided by breed size, with separate areas for small dogs and medium/large dogs, and is open for anyone to use freely.

CEO Lee Junghyo said, "I hope that the Pettiquette Class will help spread a positive tourism culture for citizens and tourists accompanied by their dogs, and contribute to enhancing Pocheon's image as a pet-friendly city."

Meanwhile, Pocheon Cultural Tourism Foundation is also promoting various projects to establish a pet-friendly tourism city, in addition to the Pettiquette Class.
