On April 29, the city of Yangsan in South Gyeongsang Province signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) at the city hall's main conference room with the Ulsan District Prosecutors' Office, Yangsan Office of Education under the Gyeongnam Provincial Office of Education, Yangsan Police Station, and the Ulsan-Yangsan Crime Victim Support Center to support crime victims.
Approximately 50 people attended the signing ceremony, including Mayor Na Dongyeon, Chief Prosecutor Park Hyunjun of the Ulsan District Prosecutors' Office, Superintendent Choi Eunji of the Yangsan Office of Education, Chief Yoo Byeongjo of the Yangsan Police Station, and Chairman Kim Bokgwang of the Ulsan-Yangsan Crime Victim Support Center.
Through this agreement, the participating organizations plan to strengthen cooperation and establish a one-stop support system that will provide integrated assistance measures for crime victim support and the protection of their rights and interests.
The main provisions of the agreement include establishing a hotline among the partner organizations, with the Crime Victim Support Center at the core, to enhance joint response efforts. This will cover the entire process from crime prevention to victim support and post-incident management, thereby strengthening collaboration for the protection and support of crime victims.
Mayor Na Dongyeon stated, "Crime victimization is an issue that can affect anyone," and added, "I hope that by establishing a systematic cooperation system among the relevant organizations through this agreement, crime victims will be able to receive prompt assistance, which will serve as a foundation for them to restore their daily lives."
