Professional Practitioners to Introduce Careers and Lead Interactive, Play-Based Activities
Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yoo Seonghun) announced that from May to June, it will operate the "Chaekmaeul Career Exploration Program" for local elementary school students at the Geumcheon-style after-school care center, "Chaekmaeul."
"Chaekmaeul" is a district-specialized project that provides after-school care for elementary children by utilizing public small libraries. The district has prepared this program to help elementary students explore potential career paths and to strengthen the operation of the Neulbom School, which is supported by the local community.
The "Chaekmaeul Career Exploration Program" will be held four times each at Chaekmaeul Centers 1 through 3, from May 2 to June 27. Chaekmaeul Center 1 is the Cheonggaeguri Small Library (Doksan 3-dong Community Center), Center 2 is the Kkumssi Children's Small Library (Doksan 4-dong Community Center), and Center 3 is the Kkumkkuneun Small Library (Siheung 3-dong Dongnaebangnae Maeulieum Center).
Professionals currently working in each field will visit to explain to children about the roles, preparation processes, and future prospects of their respective professions. Children will listen to lectures and experience the professions through tailored play activities.
At Center 1, experts in rare animals, athletes, special effects makeup artists, and magicians will introduce their professions. At Center 2, a voice actor, magician, announcer, and webtoon artist will be invited. At Center 3, a makeup artist, psychological counselor, barista, and pastry chef will participate.
A variety of fun and engaging career-related experiences are prepared, including interacting with rare animals, music jump rope, special effects wound makeup, magic demonstrations, news broadcasting, coffee making, and baking.
Mayor Yoo Seonghun of Geumcheon-gu stated, "Through Chaekmaeul, a care space utilizing local libraries, we will flexibly respond to the care needs of families with elementary school children and support the operation of the Neulbom School by connecting with various community resources."
Meanwhile, in line with the full implementation of the Ministry of Education's Neulbom School in 2024, the district has been operating high-quality, community-linked after-school care programs using Chaekmaeul. It was selected as the best case in the "Outstanding Cases of Local Government Neulbom School Linkage and Cooperation Contest" organized by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
