Mokpo Coast Guard, Five Young Interns Take Their 'First Steps' Toward the Future

Enhancing Understanding of Youth Policies and Broadening Career Choices

Mokpo Coast Guard Station (Chief Chae Sujun) announced on April 28 that five young interns have taken their first steps toward the future.

On April 24, Mokpo Coast Guard recruited five young interns to provide policy participation experience to young people preparing to enter society. The government’s policy of operating youth internships in the public sector aims to expand opportunities for young people to gain work experience and to incorporate diverse youth perspectives into national administration.

The five interns hired this time will begin with an orientation on Coast Guard duties and safety accident prevention. They will then be assigned to various departments within the station, where they will gain practical work experience for six months until October 27.

Mokpo Coast Guard plans to actively support the interns by placing them in specialized departments, thereby enhancing their understanding of public service and enabling them to participate in the policy-making process.

Hyun Dongju (23), one of the interns, said, "While I was in middle school, I trained to become a soccer player, which sparked my interest in the active work of the police. That’s why I applied. I will work diligently for six months, and I hope this experience will serve as a foundation for achieving my future dreams."
