Renault announced on April 28 that the brand sold 389,016 new vehicles in the global automotive market in the first quarter, marking a 6.5% increase compared to the same period last year.
In Europe, Renault sold 246,036 units, representing a 3.8% increase year-on-year. Sales of electrified vehicles, such as electric and hybrid cars, stood out as a key driver of this growth.
Sales of electric vehicles surged by 87.9% compared to the same period last year, while sales of hybrid vehicles also rose by 46.1%. The Renault 5 E-Tech Electric, which was named 2025 European Car of the Year, recorded sales of over 17,000 units and led the brand's performance by ranking first in small electric car sales in the European market.
Outside Europe, Renault achieved sales of 140,659 units, up 11.6% from the first quarter of last year, signaling the successful implementation of its "International Game Plan." This strategy is based on five global hubs?Korea, India, Latin America, Turkey, and Morocco?and aims to create synergy between Europe and non-European regions by launching a total of eight new models by 2027.
Renault Korea, one of the key hubs, sold over 14,000 new vehicles in the first quarter, achieving a 147.6% year-on-year increase in sales. The mid-size SUV Grand Koleos sold 11,341 units. The new Grand Koleos, launched after four years, has sold over 33,000 units as of March this year, contributing significantly to Renault Korea's strong performance.
In Latin America, strong results in Argentina, Colombia, and Brazil led to sales of 63,700 units, a 21.1% increase compared to the first quarter of last year.
Renault plans to continue its growth by introducing new models to the global market. In Europe, the brand will launch the small electric crossover SUV Renault 4 E-Tech Electric and facelift versions of its major existing vehicles. Renault also aims to further expand its global influence by increasing export regions, including the overseas launch of the Grand Koleos.
