Mayor Choi Hokwon of Yeongdeungpo District Conducts Safety Inspection of Excavation Site to Prevent Ground Subsidence

On the morning of April 25, Choi Hokwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo District, visited a large-scale excavation site in Yangpyeong-dong to inspect the safety of the adjacent roadbed.

Amid growing public concern nationwide due to a series of large-scale ground subsidence incidents, the district conducted an on-site inspection as a proactive measure to identify potential risks at an early stage.

During the inspection, the team used a vehicle-mounted 3D GPR (Ground Penetrating Radar) scanner and a handheld scanner to examine the underground space beneath the adjacent roads. They also deployed an intelligent closed-circuit (CC) TV beneath the manholes of side streets to closely inspect the condition of the sewage pipes.

Choi Hokwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo District, stated, "We will continue thorough preemptive inspections and ongoing management, always prioritizing the safety of our citizens."
