Explosion at Gimhae Medical Pressure Vessel Plant Leaves 1 Dead, 2 Injured

An explosion occurred at a medical pressure vessel manufacturing plant in Hallim-myeon, Gimhae, South Gyeongsang Province, resulting in one death and two injuries.

According to the South Gyeongsang Fire Department, the explosion took place at around 9:34 a.m. on April 25, 2025, at a medical pressure vessel manufacturing plant in Gasan-ri, Hallim-myeon, Gimhae.

A man in his 50s was transported to the hospital in cardiac arrest but ultimately died.

Two men in their 40s were also taken to the hospital, one with dental injuries and the other with a back injury.

It is reported that all three were employees of an outsourcing company and were conducting inspection tests after manufacturing medical oxygen cylinders when the explosion occurred.

The police are investigating the exact cause of the accident based on CCTV footage from the facility and witness statements. The Yangsan branch of the Ministry of Employment and Labor is also reviewing whether the Industrial Safety and Health Act and the Serious Accidents Punishment Act apply in this case.
