Chungnam Province announced a provisional list of 176 initiatives at the interim report meeting for the "Strong Chungnam Safety Vision 2040 Promotion Project," which was prepared to safely protect the lives and property of residents.

On the afternoon of April 25, the province announced that it held the interim report meeting for the "Strong Chungnam Safety Vision 2040 Promotion Project" in the main conference room of the provincial government building. The meeting was presided over by Shin Dongheon, Director General of Autonomous Safety, and attended by working-level officials from the provincial government and the provincial office of education.

The newly established Safety Vision 2040 advances the original Safety Vision 2050 by ten years. Under the vision of "Safety created together with residents, Chungnam's promise," the plan includes four major strategies and 176 initiatives, with a total project budget of 15.0155 trillion won.

The four major strategies are: ▲ Creating a living environment through smart technology ▲ Securing on-site crisis response capabilities ▲ Establishing a practical disaster safety support system ▲ Strengthening resident-led disaster resilience and establishing a culture of safety.

The 176 initiatives have been identified as follows: 28 for natural disasters, 78 for social disasters and safety accidents, and 70 in common areas. Through these, the province aims to achieve by 2040: ▲ a 30% reduction in casualties and property damage ▲ an improvement of 1 to 2 grades in the regional safety index ▲ a 20% increase in residents' perceived safety.

The province plans to focus 10.7248 trillion won on 40 key projects that will establish a new form of disaster response system combining advanced technology and resident participation. By sector, 4.1428 trillion won will be invested in improving disaster-prone areas, 2.5414 trillion won in supporting crop production insurance premiums, 721.3 billion won in urban flood response projects, 256 billion won in supporting foot-and-mouth disease prevention vaccines, and 22.4 billion won in establishing a response system for high concentrations of fine dust.

In the short term, the province will focus on building a disaster management system that continuously identifies, predicts, and inspects risks by reflecting seasonal and geographical characteristics, climate, topography, industrial conditions, and risk factors. In the long term, it plans to establish a disaster safety management system based on an advanced digital technology platform.

Representative projects include the advancement of proactive disaster prediction and detection using technology convergence such as artificial intelligence (AI) and big data, the establishment of a digital policy decision platform for real-time response support, and the reorganization of a scientific and intelligent safety management system covering the entire disaster management cycle.

The province plans to finalize the safety vision promotion projects at the "Strong Chungnam Safety Vision 2040 Proclamation Ceremony" scheduled for June.

Shin Dongheon, Director General of Autonomous Safety, stated, "This report meeting is an important milestone in establishing the direction of Chungnam's disaster management system," adding, "We will create tangible results that residents can feel by securing implementation capabilities by department and reflecting the necessary budget."
