294 More Public Parking Spaces to Be Added Near Incheon Culture and Arts Center Amid Severe Parking Shortage

Incheon City will construct an underground public parking lot near the Incheon Culture and Arts Center in Guwol-dong, Namdong-gu, to alleviate parking shortages in the area.

On April 25, the city announced plans to invest a total project cost of 36 billion won by the end of 2027 to build a public parking lot with two underground levels and a total of 294 spaces (with a total floor area of 10,318 square meters) at Central Neighborhood Park.

Once construction is completed, the new facility will be combined with the already operating above-ground public parking lot, which has 779 spaces, to provide a large-scale parking facility accommodating a total of 1,073 vehicles. The city recently received project approval from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety’s Central Investment Review and has officially announced the implementation plan to begin full-scale construction of the parking lot.

The Central Neighborhood Park underground public parking lot expansion project is being pursued to resolve severe parking issues in the commercial and densely populated residential areas near the Culture and Arts Center, as well as to revitalize the local commercial district. The city is currently working to expand public parking facilities, aiming to secure a total of 200,000 parking spaces in the original downtown area by 2030.

An official from Incheon City stated, "The public parking lot near the Incheon Culture and Arts Center will be developed as a large-scale hub parking facility," and added, "We plan to request construction procurement from the Public Procurement Service next month."
