According to the Seoul Chapter, on the afternoon of April 10, Ryu Myungyoung, the first-floor president of the Jeil Pyeonghwa Merchants Association, and Kim Eunsik, the third-floor president of the association, visited the Red Cross Seoul Chapter office in Majang-dong, Seoul. They came to deliver a cashier's check for 10 million won, which had been collected together with the merchants.
During the hastily arranged donation ceremony, the Jeil Pyeonghwa Merchants Association explained that the members had each contributed with sincerity, wishing to send warm comfort and encouragement to residents affected by the wildfires.
Ryu Myungyoung, first-floor president of the Jeil Pyeonghwa Merchants Association, said, "We, the merchants of Dongdaemun Jeil Pyeonghwa Market, also received help from the Red Cross and many others during our own fire incident. Although it is a small gesture, we wanted to give back the support we received, as we know well the pain and suffering caused by fire."
