"Explain Why Emergency Livelihood Support for Wildfire Victims Has Not Been Paid for Over a Month"... People Power Party's Lee Dalhee

People Power Party lawmaker Lee Dalhee (proportional representative) raised concerns about the delay in emergency livelihood support payments for wildfire victims during a plenary session of the National Assembly’s Public Administration and Security Committee on April 24, questioning Vice Minister of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety Ko Kidong.

Lee Dalhee pointed out, "Funds have been secured through public donations, the legal basis is clear, and most of the recipients have already been identified, yet emergency livelihood support payments have not been made even after a month." She criticized, "The Ministry’s determination to execute and implement these measures is far too weak."

In particular, Lee emphasized, "In the case of the Living Stability Support Fund, even though the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters and North Gyeongsang Province sent official requests to each city and county for advance payment, execution has not taken place. This is a clear example of irresponsibility in on-site administration." She stressed, "Under the current Framework Act on the Management of Disasters and Safety, payments can be made immediately, and further excuses are unacceptable."

In response, Vice Minister Ko Kidong of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety said, "There were some difficulties in the process of confirming the victims," and added, "We will address these issues quickly."

Lee Dalhee urged, "A special committee for wildfire victim support measures has now been officially launched at the National Assembly level, and now is the time for execution, not legislation." She called for the swift payment of livelihood support funds so that "the people can feel fortunate that the state is there for them."
