Uiseong County in North Gyeongsang Province will launch the "2025 Uiseong Residents Read Together: Meet the Author" program starting from April 30, aiming to promote a culture of reading and facilitate cultural exchange among residents.
"Meet the Author" is Uiseong County's signature reading culture program, designed to invite renowned authors from various fields to hold author lectures and book concerts. The program aims to help residents connect and empathize with each other through books.
The first lecture of the year will be given by Kwon Il-yong, South Korea's first profiler. Professor Kwon will speak on the topic "Why We Read the Mind of Evil," sharing insights into the structure and causes of criminal psychology, as well as ways to protect oneself from crime.
In particular, the lecture will go beyond a simple talk, featuring interactive communication through a Q&A session with the audience.
This program will run a total of seven times through November.
The lineup includes: May 15, author Lee Ji-young, "The Power of Organization That Changes Your Life"; June 12, author Jung Hee-won, "Slow Aging: The Mindset for Aging Slowly"; July 3, author Ko Myung-hwan, "Repetition Makes the Difference"; September 11, Professor Lee Ho-sun, "Skills for Communication Across Generations"; October 16, author Jung Woo-chul, "A Masterpiece That Changed My Life"; and November 27, Professor Lee Jun-young, "2026 Trend Korea." Authors from various fields will deliver lectures in a relay format.
Kim Joo-su, Governor of Uiseong County, stated, "I hope this program provides residents with easy access to knowledge in various humanities fields and an opportunity to improve their quality of life. We will continue to expand opportunities for cultural enjoyment and do our best to foster a healthy local culture."
Registration is available on a first-come, first-served basis starting from the first day of each month. Residents can sign up by visiting the library, calling by phone, or using the Uiseong County integrated reservation service.
