Democratic Party: Moon Calls Prosecution "Absurd and Outrageous... Retaliation for Yoon's Impeachment"

"Criminal Complaints Against Abuse of Prosecutorial Investigative Authority"
"Will Regard This as an Opportunity for Prosecutorial Reform"

On April 24, former President Moon Jaein responded to the Jeonju District Prosecutors' Office's indictment against him regarding allegations of preferential hiring at an airline involving his former son-in-law, calling it "an absurd and outrageous indictment." According to Democratic Party lawmaker Yoon Konyoung, Moon also characterized the indictment as "retaliatory prosecution in response to the impeachment of former President Yoon Sukyeol."

Yoon, who is a member of the Democratic Party's Committee for Countering Suppression of the Previous Administration, introduced these remarks from Moon during a press conference at the National Assembly on the same day.

Yoon further explained that Moon stated, "I will use this as an opportunity not only to reveal the truth in court, but also to expose how absurdly and abusively prosecutorial power is being exercised and misused." Moon also said, "I will not only file criminal complaints against the prosecution's illegal acts, including the abuse of investigative authority, but also regard this as an opportunity to push for prosecutorial reform."
