Sunchang County in North Jeolla Province is set to fully implement the 'K-Pass Public Transportation Fare Reimbursement Program'.
According to the county on April 24, this support program has been established to reduce transportation costs for residents and to encourage the use of public transportation.
K-Pass is a system that reimburses a certain percentage of the amount spent on public transportation for residents who use it at least 15 times a month. The reimbursement is provided either as a cash deposit the following month or as a deduction from the card bill, depending on the usage record.
The modes of transportation eligible for reimbursement include city buses, rural buses, metropolitan buses, urban railways, the Shinbundang Line, GTX, and airport railways. However, transportation options that require separate ticketing, such as express buses and high-speed rail (KTX, SRT), are excluded.
Any Sunchang County resident aged 19 or older is eligible to apply, and the reimbursement rate varies depending on the applicant's status. General adults receive a 20% reimbursement, young adults (aged 19 to 34) receive 30%, and low-income individuals (recipients of basic livelihood security and those in the near-poverty group) receive a 53% reimbursement rate.
Residents wishing to use the program must obtain a K-Pass transportation card from one of the affiliated card companies (KB Kookmin, Nonghyup, BC, Samsung, Shinhan, Woori, Hana, Hyundai, etc.), and then complete card registration through the K-Pass dedicated app or the official website.
A county official stated, "We expect that this K-Pass support program will provide significant help to residents by effectively reducing transportation costs," and added, "We hope many residents will actively participate and enjoy the benefits."
For more details, inquiries can be made to the Korea Transportation Safety Authority or the K-Pass customer center, and information is also available on the official website.
