Haesong Offshore Wind Power Holds Supply Chain Company Briefing in Mokpo

Sharing Directions for Collaboration with Domestic Companies
Supporting Professional Workforce Training and Joint Research and Development

Haesong Offshore Wind Power Co., Ltd., the corporate entity for the Shinan offshore wind power project of global green energy investment and development company CIP (Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners), announced on the 24th that it held the "Haesong Offshore Wind Power Supply Chain Company Briefing Session" at Hotel Hyundai by Lahan Mokpo on the 23rd.


Haesong Offshore Wind Power is striving to enhance the competitiveness of the domestic offshore wind power industry by promoting the localization of major parts and equipment, and by fostering close cooperation with local companies. This briefing session was organized to share the progress of the Haesong Offshore Wind Power project and the direction of collaboration with domestic companies, as well as to facilitate practical discussions on supply chain development and ecosystem activation.

Approximately 300 participants attended the briefing session, including Park Changhwan, Vice Governor for Economic Affairs of Jeollanam-do; Song Hacheol, President of Mokpo National University; Park Hongryul, former Mayor of Mokpo; Kim Daein, Acting Governor and Deputy Governor of Shinan County; Lee Sangjoo, Chairman of Shinan County Council; Kim Moonsu, Jeollanam-do Provincial Assembly Member; Choi Misook, Jeollanam-do Provincial Assembly Member; Park Moonok, Jeollanam-do Provincial Assembly Member; Lee Hyungwan, Mokpo City Council Member; Joachim Arup Fischer, Commercial Counselor at the Embassy of Denmark in Korea; Choi Deokhwan, Head of External Cooperation at the Korea Wind Energy Industry Association; Jonathan Spink, CEO of COP Korea; as well as representatives from over 100 supply chain companies, local governments, relevant organizations, and employees of Haesong Offshore Wind Power Co., Ltd.


During the event, Haesong Offshore Wind Power reaffirmed its strong commitment to collaboration with domestic supply chain companies. Lee Beopjoo, Project Lead of Haesong Offshore Wind Power Co., Ltd., presented an overview of the Haesong project, outlining directions for cooperation and industrial ecosystem development. Kwon Jian, Executive Director of Procurement, further elaborated on the company’s procurement policies, expanding on the previously introduced business overview.


Additionally, Mikkel Baekgaard, Executive Director of Technology, provided an overview of the technologies comprising the Haesong Offshore Wind Power project, explaining each technical element in detail.


In the subsequent presentation session, Na Kyungjin, Executive Director at Dohwa Engineering, who is conducting the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for the Haesong Offshore Wind Power project, and Park Seungki, Executive Director and Head of Domestic Energy Sales at LS Cable & System, which supplies cables for various domestic and international projects led by CIP, shared case studies of inter-company cooperation. They demonstrated the practicality and scalability of supply chain collaboration structures.


After each presentation session, one-on-one meetings and open Q&A sessions were held between the Haesong Offshore Wind Power project entity and domestic companies to discuss concrete cooperation measures. These sessions provided opportunities for individual consultations and Q&A with interested companies in each field, allowing for more specific exploration of collaboration possibilities and fostering mutual understanding.


Jonathan Spink, CEO of COP Korea, stated, "The Haesong Offshore Wind Power project goes beyond being a simple energy development initiative. Its goal is to reliably supply clean and sustainable energy to Korea and local communities, while simultaneously building an industrial ecosystem that grows and prospers together through close cooperation with domestic supply chains. Moving forward, we will continue to pursue the project responsibly to generate positive ripple effects for both the region and the industry as a whole."


Lee Beopjoo, Project Lead of Haesong Offshore Wind Power Co., Ltd., said, "The Haesong Offshore Wind Power project will pursue mutual growth based on strong cooperation with the Jeollanam-do and Shinan County communities. We will strengthen our win-win relationships with domestic companies by establishing a sustainable supply chain, and actively support technology sharing, professional workforce training, and joint research and development."


Meanwhile, Haesong Offshore Wind Power Co., Ltd. has obtained power generation permits for two offshore wind farms, each with a capacity of 500 MW, in Shinan, Jeollanam-do, and is awaiting final approval of the Environmental Impact Assessment. CIP is developing offshore wind power projects with a total capacity of over 50 GW in 15 countries, including Korea and Taiwan.
