On April 24, Chuncheon City in Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province (Mayor: Yuk Donghan) announced that, starting from this day, the parking fee reduction period for users of public parking lots will be extended from the current one hour to two hours in order to revitalize traditional markets and alley-type shopping districts.

In relation to this, the "Partial Amendment Ordinance to the Chuncheon City Parking Lot Installation and Management Ordinance" was approved at the 341st temporary session of the Chuncheon City Council on April 10.

Accordingly, from April 24, two hours of free parking will be provided at five public parking lots in Chuncheon City: Jeiljungang, Dongbu Market, Skywalk, Pungmul Market, and Eunhasu Street.

The discount applies to customers of stores registered with merchant associations within traditional markets and alley-type shopping districts. Customers can receive the discount by scanning a QR code with their mobile phones.

Parking fees can only be paid by card; cash payments are not accepted.

A Chuncheon City official stated, "We expect a dual benefit from expanding the parking fee reduction: revitalizing traditional markets and shopping districts, and providing citizens with a more convenient parking environment." The official also expressed hope that the use of public parking lots would help alleviate illegal parking and stopping issues.
