Professor Kim Seonjin of Pukyong National University Receives Reliability Medal from the Korean Society of Mechanical Engineers

Professor Kim Seonjin (Department of Mechanical Design Engineering) at Pukyong National University (President Bae Sanghoon) has been selected as the recipient of the Reliability Medal from the Korean Society of Mechanical Engineers (President Bae Jungmyeon).

Professor Kim Seonjin received the Reliability Medal at the spring academic conference of the reliability division of the Korean Society of Mechanical Engineers, which was recently held at the Kolon Hotel in Gyeongju. He was recognized for his contributions to the advancement of academia and technology through more than 30 years of dedication to education and research in the field of reliability engineering.


The Reliability Medal of the Korean Society of Mechanical Engineers, established in 2019, is awarded to scholars who have made significant contributions to the development of the reliability field. Professor Kim was recognized for his outstanding research achievements, including his work on "Statistical Properties of Low-Cycle Fatigue Data of Type 316L Stainless Steel at High Temperature of 700°C," as well as his contributions to the society.


Prior to this award, Professor Kim was also recognized for his research achievements, having received the Reliability Academic Award from the Korean Society of Mechanical Engineers in 2011. In addition, the graduate students who conducted research with him have consecutively received awards for excellent papers and outstanding theses, demonstrating his significant role in nurturing talented individuals.


Founded in 1945, the Korean Society of Mechanical Engineers has led the advancement of academia and technology in the field of mechanical engineering in Korea. With approximately 20,000 members, it is recognized as the most prestigious society in the field of mechanical engineering in the country.
