The Yeongsangang River Basin Environmental Office, the Yeongsangang Flood Control Office, and the Korea Rural Community Corporation Yeongsangang Project Team have established a cooperative system for the prevention of flood damage.
On April 22, the Yeongsangang River Basin Environmental Office announced that the three organizations had signed a business agreement to strengthen flood response in the national river basin of the Yeongsangang River.
On the 22nd, at the Yeongsangang Estuary Bank, the Yeongsangang River Basin Environmental Office, the Flood Control Office, and the Korea Rural Community Corporation Yeongsangang Project Team held a commemorative photo after signing a flood damage prevention business agreement. 원본보기 아이콘According to the agreement, the Korea Rural Community Corporation will maintain a low water level at the Yeongsangang Estuary Bank during normal times and will open the estuary bank to control water levels during heavy rainfall. The Environmental Office will monitor signs of flood damage in real time and share information with relevant agencies, while the Flood Control Office will support the operation of dams, weirs, and the estuary bank, and provide forecasting and warning information.
The three organizations also plan to actively deploy their available equipment and personnel for recovery efforts in the event of a flood.
Director Kim Youngwoo stated, "We will do our utmost to protect public safety through close cooperation among local water management agencies."
