Dongducheon City (Mayor Park Hyungdeok) announced on the 22nd that it held the first meeting of the "The Itgil Walking Group" in the situation room of Dongducheon City Hall on the 21st to actively promote the "The Itgil Creation Project" for creating walkable streets.

The "The Itgil Walking Group" aims to establish a cooperative system for citizen-centered improvement of the pedestrian environment and for the development of long-term and sustainable walking policies.
During the meeting, participants discussed the direction needed for the smooth progress of the walkable streets project. They also reached a consensus on the need to improve Dongducheon City's pedestrian environment and agreed that tangible changes that citizens can experience are necessary to create walkable streets.
One citizen representative stated, "I hope that through the walkable streets project, Dongducheon will be reborn as a more livable city where people want to stay."
A Dongducheon City official said, "Starting with this meeting, we will accelerate practical improvements to the pedestrian environment that reflect citizens' opinions. We will continue to do our best to ensure the smooth progress of the project through ongoing communication and collaboration."
