Songpa District (District Mayor Seo Kangseok) announced that it will operate the "Songpa Filling Classroom" program at 11 middle and high schools in the district from May to July. The program will be led by master's and doctoral-level experts from three universities in Seoul.

The "Songpa Filling Classroom" is a flagship initiative launched in 2023 under the 8th popularly elected administration to address educational disparities in the district and strengthen competencies needed for the future. The program has provided after-school opportunities for students to explore academic majors and career paths that are not easily accessible in regular classes. Last year, 940 students participated, with a high satisfaction rate of 93%.

This year, the district has newly partnered with three universities?Sungkyunkwan University, Kwangwoon University, and Hanyang University?to enhance educational expertise. Together, they have developed specialized programs in three areas: advanced convergence, artificial intelligence, and career exploration, all tailored for future-oriented education.

In particular, each university is responsible for classes in its area of strength. Starting in early May, master's or higher-level experts certified by each university will visit the 11 middle and high schools to conduct after-school sessions on these topics.

For the advanced convergence field, Sungkyunkwan University will offer courses such as "Philosophical Understanding of Artificial Intelligence," "Artificial Intelligence and Art," and "Data Analysis Practice." Kwangwoon University, which specializes in artificial intelligence, will provide courses including "Artificial Intelligence and LLM, ChatGPT Practice" and "The Human Brain, The Machine Brain." As part of the university's support project for high school education, it will also provide educational funding to enhance the quality of the program.

Finally, Hanyang University, known for its strength in career and vocational education, will run a "Green Jobs" convergence career exploration program, focusing on eco-friendly jobs. The district expects that by participating directly in these future industry-focused curricula, students will be able to learn and acquire the specialized knowledge required by the times.

Each course will be held up to five times, with each session lasting from 50 to 100 minutes. The appropriate number of participants will vary by course, but each class will accommodate around 20 students. There will be no additional tuition fees.

Seo Kangseok, Mayor of Songpa District, stated, "I would like to express my gratitude to the three universities for contributing their intellectual resources through this collaboration," adding, "We will provide full support to ensure that the Songpa Filling Classroom becomes more than just an after-school program, but a valuable opportunity for students to rediscover their aptitudes and prepare for the future."
