The Chungnam Fire Headquarters announced that it held the first quarter meeting of the 'Gachigayu Chungnam 119' Review Committee this year and plans to provide a total of 38 million won in donations to 12 households in urgent need of financial assistance.
'Gachigayu Chungnam 119' is a program that began in February 2021, where firefighters and volunteer firefighters collect 119 won per day to help residents of Chungnam Province in need. To date, the program has raised approximately 970 million won in donations and has provided 768 million won in support so far.
The recipients selected for support in the first quarter of this year include a woman in her 60s who lost her home in a fire in January and is struggling with financial hardship while caring for her ill husband, and a woman in her 40s who, after divorcing her spouse, is raising three children alone despite suffering from depression and other chronic illnesses. Both were chosen due to their urgent need for financial assistance.
In addition, 10 other households in the blind spots of social welfare services, including single-parent families caring for children with disabilities and elderly people living alone, were also selected as beneficiaries.
Seong Hoseon, head of the Chungnam Fire Headquarters, stated, "I hope that Gachigayu Chungnam 119 will serve as a spark of hope for residents facing difficult situations," adding, "We will continue to do our best to identify and support residents going through tough times, together with the Gachigayu Chungnam 119 Support Team."
