Kyungpook National University Professor Sung Hyuk Park Wins 'Outstanding Youth Committee Member Award' from World-Renowned Journal

Kyungpook National University announced on April 21 that Professor Sung Hyuk Park of the Department of Materials Science and Metallurgical Engineering has received awards in two categories from the internationally renowned academic journal, the Journal of Magnesium and Alloys (JMA): the Outstanding Youth Committee Member Award and the Outstanding Contribution in Reviewer Award.

JMA is a world-leading journal in the field of metallurgical engineering, ranked in the top 0.6% according to the Journal Citation Reports (JCR), and is regarded as the most influential journal in its field.

Professor Park was also the first Korean recipient of the Outstanding Youth Award presented by JMA in 2020. Including this year’s achievements, he has received a total of eight different awards from JMA.

Currently, Professor Park is leading the development of high-performance magnesium alloys, which are gaining attention in advanced fields such as next-generation automobiles, urban air mobility (UAM), hydrogen storage materials, and biomaterials. To date, he has published over 200 papers in SCIE-indexed international journals and has filed or registered more than 50 domestic and international patents, demonstrating active research activity. In particular, he has contributed to improving the quality of JMA by publishing 30 papers in the journal and participating in the review of more than 60 manuscripts.
