Chanjong Park from Bongsan-ri, Ugok-myeon, who began planting in early December, has carefully cultivated watermelons in greenhouses throughout the winter and is now harvesting them for the first time. He plans to deliver them to consumers nationwide through his personal Smart Store. Other farms have also started shipping, and a direct sales market will be operated at the Ugok Green Agricultural Cooperative collection center from May 7 to May 17.

This year, the total watermelon cultivation area in Ugok-myeon is 94 hectares, and shipments will continue until the end of May following this first release.

Namchul Lee, the county governor, stated, "Ugok watermelons are grown in the fertile soil of a pristine area, so they will provide great satisfaction to consumers with their outstanding taste." He added, "We will spare no effort in supporting farmers to ensure stable cultivation and secure distribution channels, and we will further strengthen quality control to supply consumers with high-quality Ugok watermelons."
