Take a Train Trip to Gyeongbuk... Gyeongbuk Culture and Tourism Organization Launches Travel Package

The Gyeongbuk Provincial Government and the Gyeongbuk Culture and Tourism Organization will officially launch a special travel package called 'Falling for Gyeongbuk 3UP!' starting May 2, 2025, to attract more tourists to Gyeongbuk. Under the slogan "Easier! Longer! Wider!", this package aims to revitalize the local economy and tourism in Gyeongbuk, which has been affected by wildfires, by connecting rail travel with local tourism and offering a variety of benefits.

This package, jointly developed by the provincial government and the organization in collaboration with KORAIL since 2023, provides a 50% discount on rail fares. To date, approximately 15,000 tourists have benefited from this program.

The slogan for this year's 'Falling for Gyeongbuk 3UP!' highlights three major improvements: simplifying the subsidy application process to make it easier, extending the period for verifying visits to tourist sites from 7 days to 30 days to make it longer, and adding four additional rail lines (Donghae Line, Jungbunaeryuk Line, Jungang Line, and Gyeongbuk Line), thereby expanding the number of eligible stations from 30 to 50 to make it wider.

During the event period, travelers arriving at any of the 50 railway stations in the Gyeongbuk region (excluding Daegu) will receive a 50% payback on their fare, as well as a station store voucher worth 10,000 won, which can be used at shops within the station.

Participating in the event is simple. Starting May 2, 2025, travelers can book the 'Falling for Gyeongbuk 3UP!' package through the KORAIL website or the 'KORAIL Talk' app under 'Local Love Travel.' From May 9, when train use becomes available, travelers can visit tourist sites in Gyeongbuk, sign up for membership on Tour054 (the exclusive Gyeongbuk tourism product mall), upload verification photos of their visit, and then apply for the subsidy. The subsidy will be deposited into the applicant's account in the month following verification.

Lee Sanghun, Head of the Marketing Business Division, said, "We expect this package, which combines rail travel and tourism, to help the recovery of wildfire-affected areas in Gyeongbuk and serve as a catalyst for revitalizing Gyeongbuk tourism in 2025," and encouraged many tourists to participate.
