Admiral Yi Sun-sin was born and spent his childhood in Geoncheon-dong (now Inhyeon-dong), Junggu, and passed the military examination at the Training Center Park. The district organized this event to promote Junggu as the starting point of the great admiral, to reflect on his spirit together with residents, and to spend a meaningful spring day on Namsan Mountain.

The walking competition course, under the slogan "Set Out, Enjoy, Triumph!", is designed to commemorate the admiral's spirit. It starts at the National Theater of Korea, passes through Seokhojeong and the Pildong Rest Area as a turning point, and returns to the National Theater, covering a 4.5 km circuit on the northern side of Namsan. The course takes about one hour, and anyone interested in walking is welcome to participate.

Participants are to gather by 8 a.m., do a brief warm-up, and then set off sequentially from 8:20 a.m. At the turning point, prize draw tickets will be distributed, and 500 points for the Junggu Health Mileage program will be awarded.

Along the walking route, a variety of experiences and entertainment will be available. Interactive events include the "Desperate to Live, Live to Die" (必死卽生 必生卽死) rock-paper-scissors game, a Seokhojeong traditional play zone (archery, tuho, jegichagi), and a photo zone themed after Admiral Yi Sun-sin.

In addition, participants who take a verification photo at the event and post it on social networking services (SNS) with the hashtags '#JungguResidentsWalkingCompetition', '#JungguTourPass', and '#AdmiralYiSunshin' will be eligible to win a "Seoul Junggu Tour Pass" (30 winners) and a "Hotel Meal Voucher" (1 winner).

At the venue, a district administration promotion booth will introduce key Junggu policies. Various communication programs will be offered, focusing on policies that directly affect residents, including physical fitness assessments, AI-based "Naepyeon Junggu" experiences, job counseling, guidance on proper waste disposal, SNS friend-adding, volunteer information, and an introduction to the Junggu Tour Pass.

The walking competition will be hosted by professional MC Jung Jaehoon, adding excitement to the event. After completing the course, a celebratory performance by the three-member band "Richman and Groovenice" will take place on stage. The subsequent prize draw will offer a variety of prizes, including a styler, robot vacuum cleaner, Dyson Airwrap, hotel accommodation and meal vouchers, luxury cosmetics sets, and Bluetooth speakers.

This event has been made even richer with the strong support of the local community. Twelve companies, organizations, and institutions participated, including CJ CheilJedang, Lotte Department Store Main Branch, Shinsegae Department Store Main Branch, Sempio Foods Co., Seoul Junggu Saemaeul Geumgo Association of Chairmen, Woori Bank Junggu Office Branch, Meritz Fire & Marine Insurance Co., Banyan Tree Club & Spa Seoul, Ambassador Seoul Pullman Hotel, Seoul Junggu Sports Council, Dongdaemun Tourism Special Zone Association, and Taegukdang.

Mayor Kim Gilseong stated, "To mark the 480th anniversary of Admiral Yi Sun-sin's birth, we have organized this meaningful walking competition in Junggu, the admiral's hometown, to reflect on his spirit together with our residents." He added, "I hope this will be a time to walk together through the spring of Namsan, to take care of our health, to envision the history and future of Junggu, and to communicate and unite as a community."
