According to the Central Election Commission of the Democratic Party of Korea on April 19, Lee Jae-myung, former leader of the Democratic Party and a preliminary candidate, secured first place in the Chungcheong region, the first stop of the party’s nationwide primary tour, with 88.15% of the votes (57,057 votes).
