Guro-gu (District Mayor Jang In-hong) announced that from the 11th to the 17th, at the '3rd Herald Economy·Korea Herald Cup National Wrestling Tournament' held at Jangheung Indoor Gymnasium in Jeonnam, Guro-gu Office wrestler Kang Dae-gyu won a silver medal, while Jeong Yong-seok and Choi Mi-reu won bronze medals, achieving great success.
In the team competition, they ranked 2nd overall.
First, on the 15th, Choi Mi-reu secured a bronze medal after a narrow loss in the freestyle 61-kilogram (kg) semifinal.
On the 16th, Kang Dae-gyu took 2nd place in the 92 kg category, and Jeong Yong-seok, who participated in the 70 kg category, also placed 3rd, earning silver and bronze medals respectively.
Regarding this, a Guro-gu Office official said, "Since appointing coach Jeong Soon-won in January last year and strengthening the team, the performance has noticeably improved," adding, "As they are training hard, we expect the upward trend to continue."
The Guro-gu Office wrestling team plans to focus on training to participate in the 50th KBS Cup National Wrestling Tournament scheduled for June.
