Foreign media reported that China has internally set a precondition that the United States should refrain from slandering China and show more respect before starting trade negotiations with the U.S.
Bloomberg News reported on the 16th (local time) that the Chinese government hopes the Donald Trump administration will take certain measures ahead of the trade talks.
First, members of the Trump administration should refrain from making slanderous remarks and show respect toward China. Earlier, the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs unusually criticized U.S. Vice President JD Vance for calling Chinese people "peasants" on the 3rd, calling it "ignorant and rude."
Additionally, China holds the position that the U.S. needs to demonstrate a willingness to alleviate concerns within China regarding sanctions and the Taiwan issue. Furthermore, China hopes that a clear negotiator authorized by President Trump will be appointed. While President Trump wants to negotiate directly with China, China reportedly believes that negotiations between officials designated by the two heads of state are the best approach.
Earlier, when President Trump said regarding trade negotiations with China, "The ball is in China's court," the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated its stance that the U.S. must stop its suppression first.
