Kim Youngrok, Governor of Jeollanam-do, instructed on the 16th, "Make efforts to ensure that Jeonnam's future development policy tasks are adopted as presidential election pledges, and prepare for the immediate execution of the provincial supplementary budget for people's livelihood recovery as soon as it is approved by the provincial council."

On this day, during a policy meeting of directors and bureau chiefs held at the Seo Jaepil Room of the provincial government building, Governor Kim stated, "April and May are crucial periods for reflecting the region's future strategic industries in the government budget projects, but due to election laws related to the presidential election, there are many restrictions on events. However, this could actually be a good time for making proposals to ministries, so please actively find and carry out tasks for the region's future development and people's livelihood recovery within the bounds of the election law."

In particular, regarding Jeonnam's future development policy tasks, he said, "Work together with each political party to ensure that the 75 policy tasks, which have been compiled from past efforts and newly identified tasks for the future, are reflected in the presidential election pledges. Even projects that are not adopted should continue to be promoted. Actively make proposals to each ministry so that these projects are reflected as substantial government budget projects and fostered as future strategic industries."

He also said, "It would be good if the government quickly passes a supplementary budget for people's livelihood recovery, but it is being delayed. At the provincial level, we have prepared a supplementary budget of 530 billion won for people's livelihood recovery faster than usual, so make sure to explain it well during the provincial council's deliberation process so that it is reflected. Once the council's review is completed and the supplementary budget is confirmed, I want you to be ready for its immediate execution."

Regarding wildfire prevention activities, he said, "With a certain amount of rain, we can breathe a little easier. We have worked hard, even to the point of excess, in carrying out prevention activities, but when it comes to disaster prevention, you can never do too much. I believe that thanks to those efforts, we have not had any large wildfires in the Jeonnam region."

Governor Kim also said, "It is heartbreaking that the region's status as a foot-and-mouth disease-free area has been broken, and I feel sorry to the residents. We must thoroughly investigate the transmission routes and causes, and establish clear measures to prevent recurrence," he emphasized.
