Seongdong-gu Expands Customized Comprehensive Welfare Consultations to All Neighborhoods... Over 8,200 Cases Handled

Seongdong-gu (Mayor Jung Won-oh) has surpassed 1,200 welfare consultation cases within just nine months of operating the 'Seongdong Welfare Comprehensive Counseling Center,' which provides welfare service information all at once.

Since this year, the welfare comprehensive counseling service has been expanded to all community service centers, resulting in a total of 8,200 customized welfare consultations conducted so far.

In July last year, the district established the 'Seongdong Welfare Comprehensive Counseling Center' at Seongdong-gu Office to eliminate the inconvenience residents faced in visiting multiple institutions or departments to find welfare-related information and to enable them to enjoy welfare service benefits at the necessary time.

Additionally, by introducing the 'responsible counseling system,' continuous monitoring and follow-up measures are implemented after consultations to provide welfare services focused on practical problem-solving.

To offer more professional and systematic welfare consultations, special efforts are being made to strengthen practical field capabilities. Every year, in the first and second halves, 'Welfare Counseling Specialist Training' is regularly conducted for social welfare public officials working at community service centers. The training covers understanding social security projects applicable immediately in the field, initial counseling techniques, and counseling record writing methods.

A counseling manual systematically organizing a total of 705 welfare services by target and topic has also been produced. It contains detailed usage information such as service targets, support contents, application methods, and providing institutions, enabling quick and accurate responses to various resident inquiries not only about welfare but also about daily conveniences.

In line with the standards changing in 2025, the 'Seongdong Life Cycle Welfare Service Guide' has also been published. It includes 65 welfare services across 11 fields covering the entire life cycle from infancy to old age, allowing residents to grasp the necessary information at a glance by life stage. Additionally, QR codes are embedded so that necessary welfare information can be checked and applied for anytime and anywhere. The guide is distributed at the Seongdong Welfare Comprehensive Counseling Center or community service centers and is also available for viewing and downloading on the Seongdong-gu Office website.

Consultations through the 'Seongdong Welfare Comprehensive Counseling Center' have led to practical support. One family facing a crisis due to the loss of main income after a spouse’s business failure was able to receive help such as emergency welfare living expenses and use of the food market through counseling, followed by extended emergency welfare living expenses and psychological therapy counseling linked with the Mental Health Welfare Center.

Also, for a solitary elderly person who became mobility-impaired due to a fall accident, home care services and hospital accompaniment services through the Care SOS program were provided, along with continuous welfare service and welfare check-ins during the recovery period.

Based on these achievements, the 'Seongdong Welfare Comprehensive Counseling Center' was selected as one of the 'Top 10 Seongdong News of 2024' chosen directly by residents and received high praise in resident service satisfaction surveys for accurate information provision and friendly counseling.
