Hyundai Engi, Pre-fabricates Large Structures Over 300t for Installation at New Factory

Hyundai Engineering announced on the 14th that it has installed a PAU module in the Shahin Project Package 2 construction underway in Ulsan.

The PAU module is a large structure that includes steel frames, machinery, piping, and electrical components. It is pre-fabricated at a module factory and then transported to the site for installation. The company explained that this method can shorten the construction period while simultaneously improving construction efficiency and work safety.

The installed module measures 22.8m in length, 16.3m in width, 23m in height, and weighs 327 tons. A total of three units were made. They were manufactured in Mokpo, shipped from Daebul Port, transported 470 km over two days, and installed in Ulsan. Hyundai Engineering oversaw the entire process from design, procurement, module fabrication management, land and sea transportation, to on-site installation.

The Shahin Project is a business in which S-Oil is investing 9.3 trillion KRW to establish a high value-added petrochemical product manufacturing facility. Previously, Hyundai Engineering reduced the construction period by more than six months by applying modular construction methods for superstructures during the Kuwait LNG Terminal Project in 2021.
