Expectations for strong policies on economic polarization and Honam development
Kim Youngrok, Governor of Jeollanam-do, expressed his support for Lee Jaemyung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, regarding his announcement to run for president.
On the 10th, Governor Kim stated on his Facebook, "As the party leader, Lee Jaemyung has endured great hardships to resist the oppression of the Yoon Sukyeol administration, prevent historical regression, and revive democracy. He is at the center of the spirit of the times."
He continued, "I deeply agree with his statement in today's (presidential candidacy) declaration that we must address economic polarization, which is a core factor in social conflict. The imbalance between the capital region and local areas is also extremely serious," he emphasized.
He added, "I hope that during the presidential campaign, he will present good policy alternatives for the vision of development in Honam, including Jeollanam-do. I trust that he will put into practice his philosophy that the development of Honam is national development."
Meanwhile, Lee Jaemyung, former leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, officially announced his candidacy for the 21st presidential election through a documentary-style video on this day.
