On the 10th, Yangsan City in Gyeongnam held an opening ceremony for the Carbon Neutrality Support Center, a dedicated organization for achieving '2050 Carbon Neutrality,' at Youngsan University.
The ceremony was attended by over 60 people, including Mayor Na Dongyeon, Yangsan City Council Chairman Kwak Jongpo, provincial and city council members, Youngsan University President Boo Kookook, and officials from related organizations involved in carbon neutrality.
The Yangsan City Carbon Neutrality Support Center was designated through an open recruitment process on February 6 and will begin full-scale operations starting with this opening ceremony.
The center plans to support the establishment and implementation of the Basic Plan for Carbon Neutrality and Green Growth, as well as climate crisis adaptation measures. It will also provide education and consulting to local businesses and citizens, thereby encouraging practical participation from the local community in addressing the climate crisis.
A city official stated, "There are high expectations for the support center as a dedicated organization for realizing carbon neutrality," and added, "We ask that it play a leading role based on cooperation with the local community to achieve the vision of Yangsan as an eco-friendly and clean city."
