Jeollanam-do announced that Daheungsa Temple in Haenam and the Jeollanam-do Mind Health Healing Center in Jangheung have been selected as '2025 New Excellent Wellness Tourism Destinations' in a public contest organized by the Korea Tourism Organization.

Excellent wellness tourism destinations were chosen through document review, on-site evaluation, and final deliberation among 66 locations recommended by metropolitan local governments, with 11 sites ultimately selected. Jeollanam-do, which previously had six excellent wellness tourism destinations, has now increased its total to eight.

Daheungsa Temple was recognized for its competitive templestay program, which features forest meditation at a thousand-year-old temple and a tea ceremony experience centered on the teachings of Choui Seonsa, known as the 'Tea Saint,' who established Korea's tea culture.

The Jeollanam-do Mind Health Healing Center received high marks for its integrative medical treatment program, which combines health checkups and therapies such as moxibustion, acupuncture, and aromatherapy, all within a nature-friendly healing environment.

Jeollanam-do annually selects its designated excellent wellness destinations and supports marketing efforts such as tourism product development and familiarization tours. The province also plans to vitalize wellness tourism destinations by planning regionally specialized travel products linked to these sites.

Yoo Hyeonho, Director of Tourism and Sports at Jeollanam-do, stated, "Wellness tourism destinations based on Jeollanam-do's pristine nature, traditional culture, and healing infrastructure have been recognized," and added, "We will strive even harder to develop related travel products and conduct promotional marketing, such as inviting travel agencies for familiarization tours, so that Jeollanam-do can become the top local government for wellness tourism destinations."

The previously selected excellent wellness tourism destinations in Jeollanam-do by the Korea Tourism Organization include Suncheonman National Garden and Wetland, Jangheung Jeongnamjin Hinoki Woodland, National Jangseong Forest Center, Boseong Jeonnam Environmental Disease Prevention and Management Center, Jangheung Mind Health Healing Center, and Shinan Taepyeong Salt Field Marine Healing Spa.
