Commemorative Stamp Issued for 50th Anniversary of Bomun Tourist Complex in Gyeongju... Panoramic View of Bomun Lake Centered on Yukbuchon

Gyeongbuk Culture and Tourism Organization (President Kim Namil) and the Korea Post of the Ministry of Science and ICT (Director Cho Haekeun) announced on the 4th that they have issued a commemorative stamp celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Bomun Tourist Complex in Gyeongju, which was designated as Korea's first tourist complex in 1975.

The commemorative stamp, which is the result of a year-long effort beginning with the application for the commemorative stamp issuance project hosted by Korea Post in April last year, features Bomun Lake and the panoramic view of the Bomun Tourist Complex, with Yukbuchon (the current headquarters of the organization), Korea's first international convention center, at its center.

Yukbuchon, which hosted the 28th PATA (Pacific Asia Travel Association) General Assembly Workshop in 1979 with representatives from over 40 countries and more than 2,000 participants, is recognized as a living site of Korea's tourism history and was designated as an industrial heritage of Gyeongsangbuk-do in December last year. Bomun Lake, which has been a beloved destination for honeymoons and school trips for all generations over the past 50 years, was selected as the theme for the commemorative stamp to recall the half-century tourism history of the Bomun Tourist Complex and to express hope and anticipation for the next 50 years of tourism.

In 2025, a meaningful year that marks both the 50th anniversary of the designation of the Bomun Tourist Complex and the 50th anniversary of the organization's founding, as well as the hosting of the Gyeongju APEC Summit, the organization plans to actively promote the Bomun Tourist Complex to domestic and international tourists visiting Gyeongju by utilizing the commemorative stamp, with various events scheduled such as the installation of the 'Bomun Tourist Complex 50th Anniversary Milestone' symbolizing the 21 APEC member countries and the '2025 Gyeongbuk Arirang Festival' to revitalize businesses within the complex.

President Kim Namil stated, "The Bomun Tourist Complex has laid the foundation for Korea's tourism industry over the past 50 years and is a cradle of tourism history visited by countless tourists, so I find it very meaningful that a commemorative stamp has been issued. We will do our utmost to ensure that the heritage of Korean tourism conventions, which began with the 1979 PATA General Assembly Gyeongju Workshop, leads to the successful hosting of the 2025 Gyeongju APEC and the attraction of the '2026 Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Annual Meeting' to Gyeongju."

The commemorative stamp can be purchased at nearby main post offices or through the online post office.
