POSCO E&C announced on the 10th that it will apply a differentiated design in collaboration with the global design firm UNStudio for the redevelopment project of the entire Jeongbichang Front Area 1 in Yongsan-gu, Seoul. This project site is an area where major urban development plans of Seoul are concentrated. POSCO E&C plans to develop it as a 'representative future-oriented complex city of Seoul.'

The Jeongbichang Front Area 1 is located in a double station area adjacent to Yongsan Station on Subway Line 1 and Sinyongsan Station on Line 4. It is evaluated as a 'penta-station area' with KTX, ITX, Airport Railroad, GTX-B, and the extended Shinbundang Line. It is a location where Seoul’s core development plans such as Yongsan International Business District, Yongsan Park, Electronics Market redevelopment, and Nodeul Island project overlap, and it is highly valued for its future potential.

POSCO E&C plans to present a customized urban design exclusively for this area in collaboration with the Dutch design firm UNStudio. UNStudio has carried out numerous global projects such as the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Germany and a mixed-use business complex in Singapore, and has participated in domestic projects including Incheon Airport Terminal 2, Apgujeong Galleria, Hannam District 4, and Apgujeong District 3.

The complex design will apply the concept of a 'stage for the future generation’s life,' integrating views, community, commercial facilities, and public circulation in a three-dimensional manner. POSCO’s premium steel materials, PosMAC and Pos-H, will be used for exterior materials and structures to enhance corrosion resistance and construction stability.

A POSCO E&C official stated, "Rather than a uniform redevelopment project, we will complete a global landmark representing Seoul through an original design unique to the Yongsan Jeongbichang."

The project consists of 12 buildings ranging from 6 basement floors to 38 above-ground floors. It includes 777 residential units, 894 officetel units, and commercial and office facilities. The total construction cost is approximately 955.8 billion KRW. The bidding for the construction company will close on the 15th, and the final contractor selection is expected to be made in June.
