The Daejeon City Council announced that the Special Committee on Daejeon-Chungnam Administrative Integration held its first meeting on the 10th and officially began its activities.
At the meeting, Lee Jaekyung (People Power Party, Seo-gu 3) was appointed as chairperson, and Lee Hanyeong (People Power Party, Seo-gu 6) was appointed as vice-chairperson.
The special committee, which was approved at the 3rd plenary session of the 285th temporary meeting on March 28, consists of five council members: Lee Jaekyung, Lee Hanyeong, Jeong Myeongguk (People Power Party, Dong-gu 3), Lee Geumseon (People Power Party, Yuseong-gu 4), and Lee Sangrae (People Power Party, Dong-gu 2).
The committee plans to continue its activities until the end of June 2026, focusing on building consensus for administrative integration to enhance regional competitiveness and achieve balanced national development, as well as proactively responding with institutional improvements and policy alternatives.
Chairperson Lee Jaekyung stated, "The administrative integration of Daejeon and Chungnam is an essential path to enhance our region's future competitiveness and achieve sustainable development," adding, "The special committee will serve as a platform for communication, empathy, and cooperation to create an integrated development model where Daejeon and Chungnam can leap forward together."
