Former President Yoon Suk-yeol is expected to leave the Hannam-dong residence and move to the Seocho-dong private residence as early as the 11th.
An official from the Presidential Office stated, "It is highly likely that he will vacate the residence within this week," adding, "We are discussing the possibility of announcing the vacating date either the day before or on the morning of the day it is decided."
According to the 'Act on the Protection of the President, etc.,' former President Yoon can receive security protection from the Presidential Security Service for up to 10 years. It is reported that the Presidential Security Service has already formed a security team of about 40 members for the private residence.
After his inauguration in May 2022, former President Yoon commuted to and from the Seocho-dong private residence for about six months while receiving protection from the Presidential Security Service until the Hannam-dong residence was renovated.
However, since the private residence is a mixed-use residential complex, there may be inconveniences for neighboring residents. Also, considering that former President Yoon and his wife have 11 pets, it is known that they are considering moving to the Seocho-dong residence first and then finding a residence in the metropolitan area.
